A Meeting Place are a corporate meeting planning company based out of Philadelphia, with three US offices. They had a web site they were very happy with in terms of design and content, but no search engine rankings at all and only a trickle of traffic.
From our initial discussions, it became clear that A Meeting Place did not want us to do anything to change the look or feel of the site or to significantly alter the content. They did, however, want to achieve across the board results for their main search terms, most notably 'meeting planning'.
OUR APPROACH:
Researching the keyphrases for the site, it became clear that this was a competitive field.
Google, for example, returned over two million results for a search on 'meeting planning services'.
We felt that a highly optimised, but low text homepage targeting not only
this term but other related terms would bring the best results. This had the additional advantage of not changing the look and feel of the site.
In order to kickstart enquiries coming from the site, we also advised a limited amount of paid inclusion as well as submission to Yahoo and Looksmart. We further optimised the internal pages of the site for very niche, but important secondary phrases; limiting ourselves to editing already existing text rather than a complete rewrite; bearing in mind that the client was happy with the copy already written.
RESULTS:
This approach paid off, increasing the amount of traffic to the site over 1000% and resulting in top five positions for all the main keyphrases.
This was achieved with only
a limited amount of link building, as we quickly discovered a lack of suitable link partners and a reluctance of similar firms to consider linking to the site.
